On Friday morning, I had another ultrasound and doctor's appointment. The ultrasound went well and she is still a she! Everything from what I could tell and the impression I got was that she was doing well and there weren't concerns.
At my doctor's appointment, found out I had lost 3 lbs in the last 5 weeks. I wasn't feeling well (tummy bug) earlier in the week, so I'm going to contribute the weightloss to that. No one seemed concerned about it. I was seeing a different doctor this time and I even liked him better. He looked up and asked me questions about my past history without my even having to bring it up. He would (right now) schedule the c-section for June 11th - my Mom's birthday.
I have to go to my pre-admission orientation before next time and I received the fun orange drink for the gestational diabetes test when I come in next. As I left, the doctor stopped me in the hall and said he didn't have any real concerns with the ultrasounds except that she was a little on the small side (36.1) and that he wanted to do another ultrasound at my next appointment to make sure that her growth stays on track. I am less concerned about her being "small" as she measure about 6 days behind from the beginning and they never adjusted my due date. So we'll see and hope that her growth stays on track or they may have to lengthen my pregnancy time.

Snow, snow, snow
We have been getting quite a bit of snow for this area. Last week, we had a bit more than a day of classes cancelled because of snow. Of course, wasn't happy about how it happened. Tuesday morning last week I had an 8am class. Due to the snow, I would have to leave the house around 6:30 or so to ensure if traffic was a problem, I should be able to make it in on time. In addition, O had a low-grade fever the night before, so if he had a fever, he had to stay home. So, Tuesday morning I woke up around 5:50 and checked the school's website - nothing about classes; checked my phone, nothing about classes. Then I went up to feel O's forehead - felt fine. So I got ready, got O ready and off we went. We made it to daycare about 7:20 (normal drive is 25 minutes, so about twice as long). Made it to school. I had about 9 of my 30 students in my 8am class that morning (review day for test on Thursday). I also had a class right after this one. Went to this class and about 16 of the 35 were there (including a few that live an hour away). About 15 minutes into class, another professor came in to tell us that classes had been cancelled for the rest of the day - Are you kidding me? Let's wait until we get there and then tell us to go home.
Wednesday morning, they cancelled classes starting before 10 am. So I figured I would just hang out with O. for a bit before taking him to daycare. So I called the daycare and left the message that O would not be in until around 11 or so. (My office hours don't start until 1:30 on Wednesday). When I got on my email, I actually found out that daycare was closed. So then I had to take O. to school with me, have him in my office during office hours and have an old student (who I know well) watch him while I taught. Now that was a long day that very little got accomplished.
This week, I woke up Monday to seeing that classes were cancelled - fine with me. So I called daycare to tell them O. would not be in. Daycare decided to close early on Monday and be closed on Tuesday as we were going to be getting snow all day and night. So now, the wait was on to find out if classes would be cancelled. At about 10:30 that night, classes were cancelled until noon - and I have a 12:15 class. So now that hunt is on for what I should do with O. during this class with the plan that B. would come get him from school after work so I could still go to my department meeting. Then at about 9:30 the next morning, they called off the rest of the classes on Tuesday - this made life much easier.
With the snow day on Tuesday, I decided to keep my exam in two of the classes on Thursday with review being done primarily online and through extended office hours. Since very few (less than 10%) took advantage of either of these, they should have no reason to whine. Now I just need to grade those exams...
Is it spring yet??

Couple of Annoyances
Annoying Experience #1 - Friday, February 12th, Outback Steakhouse.
So, the hubby and I decided to go to Outback for supper, with O. I, at the time, was completely oblivious to the fact that this probably included "valentines weekend". I got there at 5:52 (by my cell phone) and it was packed. Asked the hubby if he wanted to wait as they quoted us 40-50 minutes. That is a long time for a 3 and a half year old to have to behave without going outside and getting to run around. We decided to wait it out. We ended up sitting at the bar waiting for part of the time. After 70 minutes, the hubby went up and he was told we were 4th in line. The people sitting next to us at the bar were listed right before us - they got it and yet we continuted to sit and see other people go sit down. We finally went up again, this time together, and they said we would get ASAP. As a few more families got in before us, I finally said, "we have been here for an hour and a half waiting (7:25 at this point) with a 3 and a half year old. We really need to be getting to dinner. Finally, we got sat down. I ordered a 6oz outback special with a baked potato with butter and cheese and the potato soup without chives. Once the soup finally came out, it had chives - picked the darn things off. When our meal arrived shortly after, my baked potato had sour cream instead of cheese - pulled it off the best I could. At this point, O. knocked off his little thing of ketchup - I swear most of it was still in the container, yet it was everyone on the seat, him, and his coat. Then our waitress came back and asked if I was done with my soup, I said "not yet thank you" and she took off with it. Then O. managed to drop his drink on our seat which only had a slow leak, but of course it got on me! Finally got home around 8:45. What a night!
Annoying occurence #2 - February 13th, Walmart
As O. and I were leaving Walmart in our cart going to our car, we had to wait for a truck to back out and a van waiting to get in. As the van got in, it was not parked well, so it backed out to get parked better and hit the car next to it. O. and I finally got to our car and the lady who hit the car next to her got out and proceeded to head into the store. At this point I hollered - "are you going to let those people know you hit their car - it may not be that bad, but that should be their call, not yours." She went into her car and appeared to have written a note. But after I took off, I saw her back out and for what I thought, leave. Luckily, I had memorized her license plate number and I left a note on the car that she hit who had hit them. This was all I was willing to do with having a little guy with me and being pregnant - wasn't willing to put myself into an uglier situation. As I left, I saw that she just parked her car in a different spot further away. People!

Oh Baby!
I have been very excited about this baby being a girl - I have managed to only buy a couple of cute onesies so far - hoping to find someone to trade some boy clothes to for some girl clothes so that we can both save some $.
Started making the baby's afghan - made of squares with a mix of solid squares and multi-colored squares in each combo. Trying to get this done in plenty of time so that I'm not making an afghan once it gets hot!
Needing to look into either getting O. a new dresser or finding one for the baby's room. Hoping to keep an eye out on craigs list and garage sales.
The only bad thing our little baby has brought on is bills - I didn't realize that my obgyn would have us making payments before the baby was born, but I guess that makes sense. Just wish I'd have my tax refund done to help with it all. Beginning to wonder how we'll make it financially, and has me wondering how anyone makes it financially!!
Work is awfully stressful right now, but should die down some come the first of March or so. Just have lots of research things and "proving my worth" things on my plate right now, in addition to a student issue that I have to work through very quickly.
So for now, definitely needing to take this one day at a time!
